The English Premier League was very busy over Christmas and New Year, and 2022 was no different. In fact, with many players returning from the World Cup just a couple of weeks earlier, it was arguably even busier than usual.

Bet One: Newcastle United vs Leeds United

  • Bet: Draw (Match Winner Market) at 2.50

Newcastle United has been flying high this season. The Toon Army briefly moved into third place during these seasonal games and were big favorites to beat Leeds at home.

Leeds was sitting in the bottom half of the table and struggling for form in the run-up to this game. It was a big task for the boys from Elland Road, but they managed to leave the North East with a point.

Newcastle had twice as many shots and 5x more shots on target. Their possession was also higher, but they couldn’t find the back of the net, and that’s what matters the most. The game finished as a no-score draw, earning our bettor their first victory at odds of 2.50.

 

Bet Two: Brighton vs Arsenal

  • Bet: Arsenal (Match Winner Market) at 1.94

This game had the shortest odds of the accumulator, but it wasn’t a foregone conclusion.

Arsenal was in fine form leading up to this contest, but the same could be said for Brighton, a team that far exceeded expectations this season. There may have been some nerves from Gunners’ fans before kick-off, but they were quickly put to rest when Saka opened the scoring after just 2 minutes.

Odegaard doubled the lead for the North London team, and Nketiah added a third just after half-time. At 3-0, the away team was cruising. Brighton did pull one back through Mitoma with 25 minutes to go, but Martinelli gave the Londoners a three-goal cushion once more.

It finished 4-2 and was by far the highest-scoring contest of the game week.

 

Bet Three: Manchester City vs Everton

  • Bet: Draw (Match Winner Market) at 11.00

This game was undoubtedly the best pick on the card, producing the biggest shock, too. Manchester City and Everton have been fighting at opposite ends of the table this season, and their fates seem to be heading in opposite directions.

Man City has been mostly unstoppable, while Everton was close to woeful. A big win was predicted for the home team, but it failed to materialize.

Man City had 16 shots to Everton’s 2 and controlled the game with 74% possession. The Sky Blues were dominant in every area and every stat–except the one that mattered.

The prolific Haaland opened the scoring after 24 minutes, after which it looked like City would cruise to victory. But Everton held on, somehow, and then Demarai Gray grabbed an equalizer with over 25 minutes left on the clock.

At that point, the live betting markets still heavily favored Man City over a draw. And that remained the case well into the final stretch. But despite having some of the world’s best players on the pitch, the home team couldn’t find a winning goal. 

The result meant that our bettor scooped a massive 11.00 win for their accumulator bet, while Man City fell further behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.

 

Bet Four: Fulham vs Southampton

  • Bet: Fulham (Match Winner Market) at 3.00

This has not been Southampton’s season, and while many experts expect the Saints to turn things around, that pivotal point has yet to arrive. Against Fulham, Southampton was seriously lacking.

Ward-Prowse opened the scoring, but at the wrong end, giving the home team the lead after half an hour. He amended his errors with an equalizer in the second half, but then Palhinha popped up to win it for Fulham with just a couple of minutes left.

The win was enough to keep Fulham in the top half of the table, where few expected them to be at the start of the season. It was more bad news for Southampton, as they were propping up the bottom of the table by the end of the season. 

It’s all about fine margins in football, and Southampton may look back on that late goal with regret by the end of the season.

A dual forecast bet is when you back two teams to make it through. In this case, those teams were England and USA. These cross-Atlantic rivals were the favorites to go through, but with Iran and Wales in the group, it wasn’t as easy.

The group went down to the final day and the last minute. England progressed smoothly, but the USA relied on a single Pulisic goal against Iran to take them through.

 

Argentina and Poland Dual Forecast (1.72)

After their opening loss to Saudi Arabia, it seemed like Argentina would falter. Poland also struggled, losing to Argentina and drawing against Mexico. But both teams made it through in the end, with Poland making it to the last 16 on goal difference.

 

France and Australia Dual Forecast (2.62)

Everyone expected France would pass the group stages, but most expected Denmark to follow them. However, the Aussies grabbed two wins and 6 points, earning a place in the Round of 16 behind France. Unfortunately, their form didn’t last, and they were beaten by Argentina. But they made it out of the group, and that’s all that mattered for this bet.

 

Brazil and Switzerland Dual Forecast (1.50)

With two wins each, Brazil and Switzerland advanced to the next round. This was the shortest-priced addition to the bet, and it was probably the one that caused the least amount of stress for our bettor.

 

Portugal and South Korea Dual Forecast (3.75)

Another shock and another huge win! This time it was South Korea that outperformed expectations to qualify behind Portugal. Brazil did a number on South Korea in the last 16 but making it through the group was an epic achievement. The odds reflected the grand achievement of South Korea.

 

Senegal and Netherlands Dual Forecast (2.75)

Ecuador could have spoiled the party by advancing alongside the Netherlands, who scored 7 points. But Senegal secured passage in the end, only to get knocked out by England in the last 16.

Uruguay vs South Korea (Draw-Draw – 5.10)

Uruguay has some incredible players, including Nunez and Suarez, but South Korea can also look to Tottenham’s Son to score. On paper, Uruguay had the better team, but it seemed like it was going to be a close game, and many were predicting goals.

Our bettor had other ideas, opting for a draw at half-time and full-time, and they called it right. In the end, it was a draw, with the aforementioned strikers failing to meet expectations.

 

Brazil vs Serbia (Anytime Goalscorer, Richarlison – 2.90)

All eyes were on Neymar for Brazil’s opener, but Richarlison made the headlines. The Tottenham striker bagged a brace, including a spectacular second goal that was arguably the best of the competition to that point.

Our bettor only needed one Richarlison goal to keep things going. They got more than their money’s worth as Brazil went on to win 2-0.

 

Juventus (W) vs Arsenal (W) (Both Teams to Score – 1.64)

There would have been some nervy moments when this game was 0-0 at half-time, but it didn’t last. 

Juventus opened the scoring after 52 minutes with a goal from Beerensteyn, followed by an equalizer from Miedema less than 10 minutes later.

The game ended 1-1, so neither team got the points they needed, but that wouldn’t have mattered to our bettor.

 

Barcelona (W) vs Bayern Munich (W) (-1.5 Barcelona – 1.79)

Barcelona cruised to victory in this game, despite leaving it until the second half to take the lead.

They won 3-0, with goals from Geyse, Bonmati, and Pina. It was a comfortable win for them and our bettor, who banked on the home team to win by at least two clear goals.

 

Lion City Sailors FC (W) vs Borussia Dortmund (W) (Over 4.5 Goals – 1.53)

Borussia Dortmund (W) walked away 7-2 winners in this contest, finishing the game on a high and providing relief for our bettor.

It was a dominant performance from the Bundesliga team. Five or more goals were needed, and there were a total of 9. The fifth was scored with over 20 minutes left to play.

Leicester City to Beat Nottingham Forest (1.72) in the Premier League

Leicester City and Nottingham Forest have had a lousy start to the Premier League season. Not surprisingly, both of them sit at the bottom of the table. Many were backing a draw, expecting points to split as two struggling teams failed to get over the line. But our bettor had other ideas while backing the home team.

Leicester eventually ran out as 4-0 winners, so it proved to be a good call. The match wasn’t even close to a draw.

 

SE Palmeiras Goals Handicap (-0/0.5) VS Botafogo RJ (1.73) in Serie A

As a handicap bet, there was room to maneuver here, but it came good. There were some tense moments, including Botafogo taking the lead after 20 minutes and Palmeiras going down to 10 men after 69 minutes. Fortunately for our bettor, Palmeiras got the points in the end with a 3-1 win.

 

AFC Ajax U19 to Beat SSC Napoli U19 (1.43) in the UEFA Youth League

Despite going down to 10 men in the first half, Ajax’s U19s had this one in the bag early on and claimed an impressive 5-1 win.

 

Sporting CP U19 to Beat Olympique de Marseille U19 (1.73) in the UEFA Youth League

There were a lot of red cards for teams selected by our bettor, seemingly all to go against his bet. There was another red card in this match, but it didn’t cause any problems. Sporting CP took a massive 6-0 victory and claimed all the points.

 

Liverpool U19 to Beat Glasgow Rangers U19 (1.37) in the UEFA Youth League

The Reds have some incredible talents in their youth team, and they strutted their stuff for all to see during this game, walking away with a big 4-1 win and keeping this bet alive.

 

Atletico Madrid U19 Double Chance VS Club Brugge U19 (1.50) in the UEFA Youth League

In the final game of this epic accumulator, the bettor needed Atletico Madrid to win or draw. He probably breathed a sigh of relief when the Spanish team took a 3-0 lead, only for things to get nervy when there was another red card.

Thankfully, Club Brugge could only pull back a single goal and eventually lost a player of their own.

Still, they managed to win here, with Garnacho netting after 17 minutes before the away side held on to the win. 

 

AS Monaco to Beat FK Crvena Zvezda (1.55) 

Monaco took the lead after just 5 minutes, courtesy of Kevin Volland, and it was all plain sailing from there. The French team was 3-0 up after 50 minutes before Volland completed a hat-trick in the last few minutes to win 4-1.

 

Feyenoord +0.5 vs Lazio (1.45)

With the handicap in place, this bet would have been successful even if it ended 0-0. As a result, Steph*** would have no doubt breathed a sigh of relief when Feyenoord scored first, giving them clear breathing space. There was no reply to that opener, and the Dutch team won 1-0.

 

FC Midtjylland to Beat SK Sturm Graz (2.30)

Midtjylland had this in the bag early on, with Dreyer opening the scoring after 15 minutes and netting a second later on. Despite the relatively comfortable win, this game had the highest odds of the whole accumulator’s selections.

 

Trabzonspor +0.5 vs Ferencvaros (1.19)

Another 1-0 win with a handicap in place — an easy result to keep the accumulator going.

 

6 UEFA Conference League Bets

Although the UEFA Conference League is the little brother to the Europa League, it played a significant part in this bet:

 

Istanbul Basaksehir -1.5 vs Hearts (1.58)

At 3-1, this choice looked a lot closer than it was. Basaksehir had it in the bag early on. They dominated possession and were 3-0 up going into the final minutes.

 

FC Pyunik +1.5 vs FC Basel (1.33)

Basel went 2-0 up before the half-hour mark and nearly killed this bet, but then Ndoye was shown a red card, and the game swung into the home team’s favor. Pyunik pulled a goal back on 71 minutes and won the bet.

 

AZ Alkmaar +0.5 vs FC Dnipro (1.19)

Although it looked like an easy one on paper, this one went close, with the Dutch team only just scraping a 2-1 victory in the end.

 

CFR Cluj to Beat KF Ballkani (1.44)

Ballkani dominated possession in this game. They also had more shorts and successful passes. But games aren’t won on paper, and an early goal for Cluj was enough to get the win and keep this bet going.

 

Djurgardens IF to Beat Shamrock Rovers (1.48)

A close game that could have gone either way but ultimately went to the home side, which secured a 1-0 victory.

 

Freiburg +0.5 vs Qarabag FK (1.74) 

Despite going 2-0 up after 15 minutes, Freiburg made this much harder than it could have been for our bettor. In the end, they won 2-1, but the away team had multiple chances to take the points.

 

2 Segunda Division Bets

There were just two bets here, but they served to round off the wager nicely:
